About us

Who we are

Youth Outreach is a Child- and Youth Care Centre in Stellenbosch, South Africa. We provide a safe haven as well as superior care and development of vulnerable children through competent and caring adults.

What we do

We provide security, care, and education to vulnerable children in a child-friendly environment in accordance with the Children’s Act of 2005 (as amended). The children in our care are furthermore equipped with life skills to enable them to be gainfully employed and/or be self-sufficient in later life. We support families of these vulnerable children and promote family reunification.

How we do it

Youth Outreach has two Children’s Homes [Bell House 1 for 12 boys, and Bell House 2 for 14 girls] where vulnerable children (ages 5 to 18) in need are treated with the highest respect and dignity. Education, love, and care go hand in hand in a stable and supportive home.

Secondly, we provide Drop-in services to vulnerable children still living with their parents in our community, but who are in need of nutritional-, therapeutic services, hygiene-, clothing, or other forms of support. Our Drop-in Centre at Bell House provides 60-120 children monthly. Our morning programs, in the informal settlement in Jamestown, focus on pre-schoolers and school dropouts.

The staff of Youth Outreach is qualified and registered Child- and Youth Care Workers or Auxiliary Social Workers supervised by professional Social Workers in our employment.
